Meet, check, then exchange

A short list for viewing a car or a home and keeping the deal tidy.

A tidy exchange is a short sequence. Read the listing, ask what is missing, meet in a sensible place, check the thing, then agree. Rushing the middle steps is how small mismatches become arguments.

Before you travel, confirm the year, the mileage or the size, the city, and what the other person wants in return. If something important is not in the offer, such as the service book, parking or a recent repair, ask in the conversation on the listing. Keep that thread. It is the record of what was said.

For a car, meet in daylight in a public place: a station car park, a busy street, a service area. Look at each side, the tyres, the lights and the interior. Ask to see the mileage with the engine on, and the service papers if they were promised. A short drive, if you both agree, should stay on ordinary roads. Do not hand over money or documents before you have seen the car and decided.

For a home, view it in person. Walk every room, try the windows and the water, and look at the common parts of the building. Ask who is on the papers and whether anyone else lives there. When you are both ready, write down what is being exchanged, what is included, and when it happens. A sale, a swap, or a swap plus a cash difference are arrangements you make with each other. ChangeIt4Me introduces the offers. It does not take a fee on the deal, and it does not check the goods for you. If a detail does not match the listing, pause. A careful no is better than a rushed yes.
